All the headlines today have been about the Celtic AGM and what a mess it turned out to be. It was unprecedented in so many ways, but for all the wrong reasons. The club seem unwilling to accept though, that this is becoming a wider issue of fan dissatisfaction and continue to picture it as a problem that lies with particular groups. Let's see where we go from here.

On the other hand, there could be some more bad news for Celtic fans. It looks like there is a possibility that the club could sanction Daizen Maeda's exit in the January transfer window.

It is believed that Maeda had wanted to leave in the summer itself but that was blocked by the club, who were not keen to see the superstar depart alongside Nicolas Kuhn, their two best performers from last season. But just a few months on and there is a feeling of inevitability around the Japanese international's departure.

As reported by Football Insider, Pete O'Rourke said regarding the situation of Maeda and Celtic:

"There is an opportunity for Celtic to cash in on Daizen Maeda. He’s definitely not been at his best this season.

“He’s probably been a bit distracted by all that transfer speculation over the summer, maybe a bit disappointed that he didn’t get his move away in the summer transfer window which he hoped for.

“For Celtic right now, I don’t think they can afford to let him go without bringing in a replacement first and foremost. He’s obviously a player who is maybe a bit unhappy with his situation right now.

“He’s under contract until 2027. If there is interest in Maeda in the January window, it’s maybe something Celtic will look at to allow the player to move and get the move that he wished he got in the summer."

To be very honest, if you ask us, it does not feel like Maeda leaving would be any kind of monumental blow for Celtic. He has not been at his best for a while now.

Maeda has scored just four goals as we head towards December. So, this is not the player from last season who will end up scoring 30-plus goals in a campaign.

One could argue that it was just a purple patch of form for Maeda more than anything else. And to be honest, there is reason to believe that considering his all-time record at Parkhead.
