It is still unclear who Celtic will appoint as the club's next permanent manager or when that appointment will be made. It could happen during the upcoming international break. Or it could be weeks down the line. There is even a possibility that Martin O'Neill could be handed the job until the end of the season, although most no longer seem as open to that prospect after the one-sided defeat at the hands of FC Midtjylland in midweek in the Europa League.
We have seen a variety of managers being linked with the Celtic job. Quite a few have been ruled out already as well.
As things stand, Nicky Hayen of Club Brugge and Kjetil Knutsen of Bodo/Glimt look the most intriguing options on paper. There is an X-factor about Wilfried Nancy as well although his success has come in the MLS with Columbus Crew and not in European football.
Another option that has now been suggested is Will Still, who was sacked by Southampton earlier this month. Hugh Woozencroft wrote:
"Will Still will make a very good manager at Championship level. Yes, there were undoubted poor performances but there were also some very good ones, where, had Saints taken their chances - it would have at least given him more time.
If I'm Celtic, I'm on the phone in the morning"
Celtic tipped to make move for 33-year-old manager
Still has had a very intriguing career in management already even though he is just 33 years of age. He has had stints at clubs like Beerschot, Reims, Lens and Southampton.
One could argue that he exceeded expectations everywhere other than Southampton. And there is a very real possibility that he will go on to become a very good manager one day.
That being said, would Celtic be the right club for him? It does not feel so, if you ask us. Managing the Hoops is a different task altogether. The expectation is to win pretty much every game and not everybody can deal with that.
Still has a decent record in management for sure, but cannot be called a proven winner. That is what Celtic need at the moment.
