It is safe to say that appointing a manager in the middle of the season is always a tough task. It is even tougher for a club like Celtic, who need a special kind of personality to take the job. Not everybody can come in and deal with the expectations of having to win pretty much every game, which is reality of life at Parkhead.

The best-case scenario would be for a proven name like Ange Postecoglou to take the spot. But unfortunately, it does not seem like he is looking to return to management so soon after being sacked twice within the space of a few months,

On the other hand, there is another hurdle for Celtic in their quest to appoint a new manager. Ajax have sacked John Heitinga this week.

That means added competition for Celtic in the managerial market. It is very likely that both clubs will have some common targets as they look to fill the vacant hot seat.

One great example of this could Kjetil Knusen. Ajax were given permission to speak with the manager in June 2023 but were turned down as he chose to stay in Norway. Will the Dutch club reignite their interest now?

Knutsen is set to be out of contract at the end of the year. And there have been some suggestions that he could be keen to try a different experience, having won so much since joining Bodo/Glimt in 2018.

We don't know if Ajax will try to bring in Knutsen again. On the other hand, it would not be much of a surprise if the Dutch giants have an eye set on Nicky Hayen as well. The good news is that Erik ten Hag seems to be the favourite for the role.
