Celtic have been linked with a lot of players over the course of the past few weeks since the summer transfer window has opened. They need to make additions in quite a few positions and appear to be trying to sign multiple strikers, wingers and centre-backs right now. There is another position that they cannot make the mistake of overlooking though.
Kieran Tierney was brought in as a free agent with his Arsenal contract running out this summer. There is zero doubt that he will be a starter at left-back moving forward. But the Scottish international's injury record means that the Hoops need to have a reliable backup available at all times.
That task has been made much harder by the recent exits. After six years at Celtic, Greg Taylor has moved to PAOK as a free agent. Jeffrey Schlupp was on loan until the end of the 24/25 season and has left since then, with little to no mention in the media about the Hoops trying to sign him permanently.
Now, it appears that they have a new target in that position. A name that had not been mentioned in the media until now but could certainly be a very interesting one.
Celtic tipped to sign Portuguese defender out of nowhere
As reported by Record, AS Roma, Real Sociedad and Celtic are interested in Flavio Nazinho. He is expected to leave Cercle Brugge this summer.
Nazinho has played for Portugal at multiple youth international levels. He was not able to make his mark at Sporting CP but has done pretty well since joining Cercle Brugge in Belgium, leading to the interest of so many top clubs. Now, it remains to be seen wha the future holds for him.
Still just 21 years of age, Nazinho has plenty of room and time for growth. Someone like him could be a solid signing for Celtic.
