Celtic have finally gotten the managerial situation sorted by bringing in Wilfried Nancy. It is not the appointment that will please the majority of the fanbase but many have certainly warmed up to the idea of the Frenchman in the Parkhead dugout over the last few days. It remains to be seen whether he ends up succeeding or not.
If Nancy is to succeed at Celtic, he will need the proper backing of the club in the transfer market. That is something that Brendan Rodgers did not seem to get towards the end of his second stint at the club, which might have been one of the major reasons behind his resignation.
Hopefully, we do not see something similar play out with Nancy. And there might very well be a chance that the club end up adjusting their transfer strategy to suit him, just like they did with Ange Postecoglou, which produced brilliant results.
67 Hail Hail recently put out a listicle of three MLS players out of contract in 2026 that Nancy could bring to Celtic. One of them names suggested by the outlet is that of Obed Vargas.
Celtic tipped to sign Mexican international midfielder
Vargas currently plays for the Seattle Sounders in the MLS and even though he is just 20 years of age, he has already made 130 appearances for the side. In that time, he has scored 8 goals and provided 10 assists playing from central midfield.
At the international level, he has represented the senior Mexican national team on a couple of occasions. At the youth levels, he had featured for both Mexico and USA.
He is one of the best young midfielders in the MLS right now. So, if Celtic are able to sign Vargas, it would have to be considered as a major coup for the club in the long run.
