Celtic tipped to sign international striker in cut-price deal

Celtic have been tipped to sign the 26-year-old international striker in a cut-price deal this summer.

Brendan Rodgers' comments after the game against Aberdeen made it very clear that he would prefer for a striker to be brought in this summer. The manager appears to believe that Adam Idah works best when competing for his spot in the team. And let's be honest, the Irishman has been nowhere near good enough to be Celtic's first-choice number 9.

Celtic have been linked with a couple of strikers in recent weeks. Richard Kone of Wycombe Wanderers and Giuseppe Ambrosino of Napoli are two that come to mind in that regard.

Nothing seems to be imminent though. And there is no guarantee that Celtic will go out and indeed sign a striker before this summer transfer window closes.

Some interesting options are still out there though. Bojan Miovski, for example, has not left Girona yet despite being heavily linked with a move away for months. As reported by Glasgow World, Richard Foster told Go Radio:

"I thought he was excellent for Aberdeen. He scored a lot of goals, really clever football player. Watching Miovski in games, his movement is brilliant. He senses where the space is. He's always trying to play on the blind side of defenders. He makes really, really clever runs. He's quick, he's a good finisher.

“I think you put him into the Celtic team, and he's going to get far more chances. I think he's probably more of a natural goal scorer than Adam Idah. He's possibly not hit the form that he would have liked. Celtic might be able to get him on a cut price deal but I like the idea. It's a bit different. I think he's clever enough and he's technically good enough a football player to play for Celtic."

Miovski indeed was excellent during his time at Aberdeen. Everybody will remember that Celtic were heavily linked with a move for him at one point in time. Ultimately, they were not able to get a deal done though. We have heard that quite often.

Miovski would go on to leave Aberdeen to join Girona. But it has not really worked out for him in Spain and he has struggled to replicate the form that he showed in Scotland.

That does not mean that the North Macedonian international is suddenly a bad striker. He could still be amazing if he ended up joining Celtic, where he will get even more chances to score than he got at Aberdeen.

In his two seasons with Aberdeen, Miovski scored 44 goals and provided 7 assists in 98 appearances. And it was not just about scoring either. He found the back of the net thrice against Celtic and four times against the Rangers. The North Macedonian international also scored in Europe for the Dons.

If the chance is up there, Celtic should definitely consider making a move for Miovski this summer. He could be available for a bargain fee as well. There are only a few things that the board love more than a cut-price deal.
