Following Jota's injury, the wing has emerged as a position of need for Celtic during this summer transfer window. Even more so if you consider the rumours linking Nicolas Kuhn with a move away from Parkhead. It has been suggested that he is on the radar of Brentford as a potential replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, who Manchester United are trying to sign.
So, Manchester United's transfer activity could indirectly have an effect on Celtic. On the other hand, could the Hoops go out and sign a former Man Utd winger themselves?
67 Hail Hail recently published a list of players who are out of contract in 2026 that Celtic could sign for a bargain fee. One of the names was that of Daniel James.
James has been in excellent form for Leeds United in the Championship. But will that translate to the Premier League? Also, could the club look to bring in someone else in that position this summer, owing to his less-than-impressive record in the English top flight?
Celtic tipped to sign former Manchester United winger
James came through the youth ranks at Swansea City and earned himself a move to Manchester United early on in his career. He had an up-and-down campaign there, before moving to Leeds United.
James has been one of Leeds United's best players in the Championship. In the competition, he has scored 25 goals and provided 16 assists in 76 appearances.
But his numbers go down drastically in the Premier League. He has 4 goals and 5 assists in 36 appearances for Leeds United in the top flight. Overall, he has 12 goals and 13 assists in 106 games.
Of course, if Leeds United decide that they are ready to move on from James, with only a year left on his contract, it might be worth Celtic giving it a look. But as things stand, it seems like somewhat unlikely.
