We already know one signing Celtic will be making this summer as Kieran Tierney is set to make a long-awaited return to Parkhead, having left in 2019 to join Arsenal. His contract with the Premier League club expires at the end of the campaign and he already has a pre-contract agreement in place with the Hoops.
There is a possibility he might even return to Celtic as a Champions League winner. Arsenal have made it to the semis of the competition, having defeated Real Madrid in the last 8. Tierney featured in both legs.
Of course, Celtic brought back Jota recently as well and he has adjusted quickly to life at Celtic Park. The Portuguese winger has been successful in establishing himself as a starter for Brendan Rodgers, having enjoyed his previous success in Glasgow while Ange Postecoglou was manager.
Thus, it is clear that Celtic are very open to the idea of bringing back former players if the deal makes sense. And they have now been backed to do the same with Kyogo.
Celtic tipped for another blockbuster return after Kieran Tierney
While speaking on Open Goal, Paul Slane said:
"I would have a sniff at bringing Kyogo back. It will be the same as Tierney and Jota."
Kyogo left Celtic in the winter transfer window in order to make a move to Rennes. The idea was to play in Ligue 1, which would improve his chances of making it to the next World Cup for Japan.
But it is safe to say that things have not worked out as well as he would have hoped when he made that move. Kyogo has barely featured for Rennes since joining them and seems to be out of Habib Beye's plans at the French club. He was even left out of the matchday squad for the latest Breton Derby game against FC Nantes.
So, the writing seems to be on the wall for Kyogo. He is likely to leave Rennes. Will he head back to Celtic? Do the Hoops even want the Japanese striker back?
Kyogo was brilliant during his time at Celtic but he is 30 years old. Also, Rennes are believed to have shelled out a transfer fee in the region of £10 million to sign him just a few months back. Surely, they would want to recoup a decent portion of that. All things considered, this would not be the type of move the Hoops are known for making.
