When it rains, it pours. That might very well be the case for Celtic right now. They are being linked with a long list of players in recent days and if reports in the media are accurate, genuine progress is being made as well. They are believed to be on the verge of signing Isaac English and Callum Osmand. At the same time, it has been suggested that they have agreed terms with Benjamin Nygren of Nordsjaelland.
Despite that, it looks like another winger remains on their radar. And the Hoops are well-placed to get a deal done for him.
The player we are talking about is Michel-Ange Balikwisha. Before the Nygren rumours emerged, there had been suggestions in the Belgian media that Celtic were in discussions to sign the Royal Antwerp winger, having been linked with him since the previous summer transfer window.
Now, as reported by Football Insider, Celtic are well-placed to agree a deal to sign Balikwisha. Pete O'Rourke said:
"They may have to cash in on some of their players, and with the 24-year-old in the final year of his contract Celtic could land him for a bargain fee of £5million."
Celtic tipped to agree deal for £5m winger despite Benjamin Nygren move
There are many who believe that Nygren works at his best in the number 10 role. So, there is a possibility that the Hoops might not view him as a winger at all. And then, one cannot forget that that deal is not over the line yet and Celtic need to agree a fee with Nordsjaelland.
On the other hand, Balikwisha has been on Celtic's radar for over a year. So, they clearly rate him highly. So, if the opportunity is there to sign him for a bargain fee, one would expect the Hoops to at the very least consider the idea.
It remains to be seen how things play out in this saga. Will Celtic sign one of Nygren and Balikwisha, both or neither? We will find that out very soon.
