There have been plenty of bad summer transfer windows in recent Celtic history. The one from 2020 led to the 10IAR failure. The one in 2023, Brendan Rodgers' first season back, was pretty bad as well. But this might be the worst of them all. At this point in time, it is almost impossible to make sense of what we just witnessed.

Going into deadline day, the talk in the media was that Celtic were trying to sign two strikers and wingers each. Well, it is now over, and there is no sign of any of them.

It is believed that a deal was agreed for Sebastian Touneki. But that has not been made official yet and who knows whether the Hoops were able to get it done in time or not. On the other hand, they also saw their move for Kasper Dolberg collapse while the backup attempt to bring in David Datro Fofana was rejected by the Chelsea player who chose to join Charlton Athletic instead.

Well, let's just say that things did not work out for Celtic. Deadline day was even worse than the club's most pessimistic fans would have imagined.

Celtic allowed Adam Idah to leave for Swansea City and then failed to bring in a replacement. That leaves Shin Yamada and Johnny Kenny as the only out-and-out options at striker. Just let that sink in.

Well, Celtic did make a late move for Kelechi Iheanacho. But time was running out. And curiously, the player's contract was terminated by Sevilla just minutes after the rumour broke.

As reported by Anthony Joseph, Iheanacho is in talks to sign for Celtic. The 28-year-old is now a free agent, he does not need to sign before the transfer deadline.
