Another striker rejects Celtic on deadline day after Kasper Dolberg

It looks like another striker has rejected a deadline day move to Celtic after Kasper Dolberg, as this window keeps getting worse.

If things don't improve rapidly, this might go down as the worst transfer window in Celtic history. The Hoops already lost their chance to sign Kasper Dolberg but allowing negotiations to drag on, as you would expect, and handing Ajax the chance to swoop in on deadline day. On the other hand, they have already sanctioned Adam Idah's move to Swansea City.

This has left Celtic in a terrible spot. Daizen Maeda has been struggling for form for the past several months and it is hard to rely on him to be Celtic's main striker. His brilliant run last season might very well have been a purple patch of form rather than the norm.

And other than Maeda, Celtic's other two options at striker right now are Shin Yamada and Johnny Kenny. For all of Idah's shortcomings, he was at least an option and someone who scored 20 goals last season.

Following Dolberg's rejection, Celtic have been left scrambling. And one of the moves they made was a loan approach for David Datro Fofana of Chelsea. Now, even that is off the table as this transfer window goes from bad to worse.

As reported by Anthony Joseph, Fofana has turned down a move to Celtic. The Chelsea striker has agreed to join Charlton Athletic on loan.

First of all, there were serious question marks about whether Fofana was good enough to succeed at Celtic. Secondly, even then, the Hoops were not able to get a deal done.

Right now, it is hard to imagine where they will go from here. There are merely hours left in the window and no solid rumours about the club making progress on any striker deal. This feels like an absolute nightmare for every Celtic fan but is very real.
