Celtic have looked towards bringing in more experience this season. In the summer, they signed Kasper Schmeichel as a free agent and he has proven to be an excellent signing for the Hoops. Of course, Brendan Rodgers already knew what he was going to get from the Danish goalkeeper. Considering how well that move has worked out, could the club try to bring in another one of the Northern Irishman's favourites from his time at Leicester City?

Of course, it is not easy for Celtic to sign high-profile names by shelling out large transfer fees. So, it helps when they are available on a free transfer.

That is the case for Daniel Amartey, who is without a club right now. He parted ways with Besiktas after the club mutually agreed to terminate his contract last month.

Someone like Amartey could be a decent signing for Celtic for sure. He has a ton of experience at both club and international level, and at 29 years of age, he should be in the middle of his prime on the pitch.

Celtic had been linked heavily with Amartey before he had ended up joining Besiktas. Now that he is available as a free agent, could they rekindle that rumoured interest?

Amartey has the ability to play both as a centre-back and as a defensive midfielder. Celtic could do with more options in both positions, especially against top-level oppositions in the UEFA Champions League.

That being said, Celtic do need to be careful before making any move for Amartey. His spell at Besiktas proved to be a major disappointment and while he was in and around the team at Leicester City, he was never able to establish himself as a key figure with the Foxes either.
