There are a lot of rumours around Celtic as we head towards the summer transfer window. It remains to be seen which of them will come true and which have no substance to them. But for now, only one thing is for certain. That is the fact that Kieran Tierney will join the Hoops as a free agent, having already put pen on paper on a pre-contract agreement with his former team.

Tierney has had a shaky time since leaving Celtic in the summer of 2019 to join Arsenal. He was a key part of the London club early on in his run there.

But over time, injuries took their toll. Arsenal ended up signing other left-backs and he gradually slid down the pecking order in Mikel Arteta's team.

Eventually, he was sent out on loan to Real Sociedad last season. Perhaps something similar would have happened this time around as well, if not for an injury picked up at the EUROs, which prevented it.

Interestingly, Arsenal were not ready to say goodbye to Tierney in the winter. Celtic were believed to be interested in bringing him back early, but they were not successful.

Arsenal's decision has been justified though as Arteta has given playing time to Tierney. He has featured all across the pitch, albeit mostly as a substitute. The latest of those appearances came against Liverpool at the weekend and their fans seemed to be impressed.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Tierney at Celtic. He was fantastic during his first spell at the club, establishing himself as a hero. But one cannot overlook the series of injuries he has had to deal with over the years. Can he stay fit for a significant length of time?
