Celtic have had their struggles this season, especially against the Rangers, but overall, this has been another successful campaign for the Hoops. The League Cup and the Premiership is already in the bag and now, they have only one hurdle to climb to complete the treble, which will be their sixth one in nine seasons. Brendan Rodgers' side will face Aberdeen in the final of the Scottish Cup.
Of course, Rodgers will have happy memories from that fixture. And Celtic fans will be hoping to see a repeat of history at Hampden Park later this month.
It would be a mistake to consider the result of this match a foregone conclusion though. Aberdeen have had a decent season. In fact, at one point, they were looking like potential Premiership contenders.
While that did not last, they have given teams like Celtic and the Rangers trouble, and are capable of causing an upset. Yet, it looks like some people are overlooking them.
'Done deal' - Controversial Celtic claim has been made
As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Derek Ferguson said while speaking on Open Goal regarding Celtic's potential treble:
"It’s a done deal. That’s a done deal – It’s easy for us to think, because of what Celtic have got at their disposal, in terms of the financial clout on the players, you still have to go and do it, and they have done it. They will win the Treble."
The Celtic players and coaching staff cannot afford to think like that. Upsets often happen in football, especially when you take your eye off the ball. The Hoops must make sure that they are not on the wrong end of one when they face Aberdeen at Hampden Park later this month.
Of course, Rodgers has a lot of experience being in situations like this. In fact, if successful this time around, it will be his third treble as Celtic manager. No one in history has more to their name. So, it is safe to say that the Northern Irishman will be keen to make some history for the club he grew up supporting.
