What does the future hold for Wilfried Nancy at Celtic? That is the multi-million dollar question at the moment. For now, the club are sticking with the Frenchman. But we all know how quickly things can change in Glasgow. In the weeks leading up to Russell Martin's sacking, the Rangers had reiterated their support as well.
The reality is that a club can stick with a manager only for so long. It is pretty clear that the Celtic board would like to see Nancy be a success at Parkhead. Sacking him right now would be an admission that they had gotten it horribly wrong from the very beginning.
That being said, at some point, common sense will have to prevail and the club won't be able to back him any longer, even if they want to. It looks like now we know what that is going to be for Celtic.
As reported by Football Insider, Nancy is expected to be sacked if Celtic do not win their next two matches. The French manager is set to oversee upcoming matches against Aberdeen and Livingston. But he will not remain in the job beyond those two fixtures if the Hoops do not win both games.
Celtic set to sack Wilfried Nancy on one condition
It remains to be seen how accurate that information is. As things stand, it would not come as any surprise if Celtic fail to win one of, if not both, those matches.
The most likely route is that Celtic will give Nancy some backing in the January transfer window in hopes that new signings will balance the squad and help unlock the system of football that the Frenchman is trying to play. At the moment, they do not have the right personnel.
Of course, if the information is accurate, then the next two matches will take on added importance. Let's see if the Hoops are finally able to find some form.
