Celtic have been handed a massive opportunity as league leaders Hearts dropped a vital three points against St Mirren.
This means that a win for Celtic on the road against Aberdeen would allow them to come within just three points of that top spot. Rangers will also be desperately searching for a victory when they come against Kilmarnock.
Celtic will need to hope for a few goals should Rangers win, as depending on how many they score in their match, they could leapfrog the Hoops. Both teams are currently on a +20 goal difference.
Martin O'Neill will be very hopeful of being able to pull off a victory against an Aberdeen side that has struggled this season, especially with his attacking power increased by the signings of Joel Mvuka and Junior Adamu.
Golden opportunity for Celtic
Celtic won't get a much better opportunity than this in the title race. Reducing the deficit to six points already had fans hopeful of a late comeback, but three points against the Dons would put the Celts in a prime position.
Since Wilfried Nancy departed the club after his tenure, the Parkhead side have put in some fantastic performances. Facing Utrecht, Celtic dominated, created plenty of chances and won the match 4-2, proving that not only do they deserve to be in Europe, but that they deserve a sniff of more domestic success.
Fans may not be over the moon with the transfer window, but O'Neill seems pleased with his new signings. There is no doubt that Mvuka and Adamu add more quality to the team, and the likes of Tomas Cvancara and Julian Aurajo have already proven themselves to be deserving of their spot in the line-up.
Cvancara could please fans if he continues his fine form against Aberdeen. The Czech has a goal and an assist after two appearances, and is quickly becoming someone that the fans adore. Any goal involvement in Pittodrie would surely make people fall in love with him even more.
If Celtic can continue their streak of performing well consistently, they might be able to turn this season on its head and lift the league title. Even after the disappointing draw to the Jambos at Tynecastle, O'Neill admitted that he still felt his side was in the title race. He certainly won't be throwing in the towel anytime soon, and neither will the players.
Let's not forget that it won't be smooth sailing for the Celts though. At the end of February going into March, Celtic will face Hibernian, Rangers and Motherwell back-to-back-to-back domestically. These will be tricky matches on home soil, but the Hoops will have to balance that with a home and away tie against VfB Stuttgart in the Europa League Round of 16 play-off.
Although Hibs sit in fifth, seven points away from fourth-placed Motherwell, they could still prove to be a threat, with them salvaging draws against Rangers and the Well recently, as well as pulling off an unexpected 3-2 victory against Hearts.
All eyes will be on that all-important Glasgow derby though, as if things continue to go well for both sides in the run-up, that could result in a tie that will decide who is still in the race.
An in-form Motherwell side could also cause problems for Celtic, with Tawanda Maswanhise likely to be a major threat. Jens Berthel Askou's side has defied expectations all season, and will want to make a statement with a victory over title-fighting Celtic.
Players will have to be rested if we are to survive the tough five fixture run, but with Adamu, Arthur and Mvaku joining up with the squad, Celtic should be able to keep their fine form going come the middle of March.
