Defence is one area Celtic will be looking to improve this summer. Of course, Kieran Tierney's arrival is already set to bolster the Hoops' backline but at the same time, one cannot overlook the effect that departures will have on Brendan Rodgers' squad. Greg Taylor has not signed an extension and looks headed out of the Parkhead exit door. On the other hand, Jeffrey Schlupp is available as a free agent but is drawing heavy interest from English clubs as well.
Celtic are believed to be keen to keep one of Taylor and Schlupp. But there is a real possibility that both will depart this summer.
So, one would expect Celtic to have alternative options in mind. In fact, it looks like the club are already taking concrete steps in hopes of signing a left-back.
As reported by Football League World, Celtic have put in a transfer bid for Harley Mills. Peterborough United were already mulling over a £1 million approach from Fulham.
Celtic reportedly submit bid for English defender
Mills is just 19 years of age and was playing non-league football at the start of last season. So, it has been quite the rise for the youngster. Now, it looks like he is drawing interest from the Premier League as well as a Champions League side like Celtic.
Mills scored in the final of the EFL Trophy in Peterborough United's win over Birmingham City. And it looks like he could get a big move this summer. Will it be to Celtic or somewhere else? We will find out soon enough.
This offer seems to be a clear indication though that Taylor will remain with the club. While no official announcement has been made yet, all signs seem to be pointing towards his exit. As for Schlupp, he has not been particularly impressive in recent months, after an excellent start to life at Celtic Park.
