A very reliable source has reported that Celtic expressed interest in signing Jack Grealish this summer.

Right now, it feels like Celtic are not showing enough ambition in the summer window. So far, they have only spent £3 million on transfer fees. That is not nearly enough, when you consider Nicolas Kuhn's move to Como FC and the sell-on windfall they received from Jeremie Frimpong's Liverpool switch.

With a few weeks left in the summer transfer window, Celtic are being linked with a number of players. But nobody would have seen the most recent one coming.

Jack Grealish recently completed a move to Everton, on loan from Manchester City. But it appears that the Hoops had an eye on that situation as well.

As reported by The Athletic, Celtic had expressed interest. But Grealish never seriously considered a move to Scotland.

The Athletic are one of the most reliable outlets in football right now. So, there has to be something behind those claims, that is for sure.

If we had to guess, Celtic were probably exploring what it would take to get a deal done. It is hard to imagine that they would have been in the race though, even if Grealish was open to the idea.

Interestingly, it would have represented the chance for him to reunite with an old teammate, Callum McGregor. Both had spent time at Notts County early on in their careers.

Then again, you have to take into consideration the salary that he is on at Manchester City. Unless the Citizens were willing to cover the majority of it, there is little chance that Celtic could have realistically considered the idea of bringing in Grealish on loan for the season.

At the end of the day, a move did not happen. But at least it is good to see that Celtic are exploring moves of this magnitude. Now, let's get some over the line.
