Celtic reportedly interested in Liverpool midfielder
Celtic have been linked with plenty of Liverpool players in recent times. At one point in the summer, the Hoops were rumoured with an interest in three or four of the Premier League club's players at the same time although it did not lead to anywhere of substance. Now, another of their midfielders seems to be on the Scottish champions' radar.
Of course, Celtic have a lot of quality in the middle of the park. But if there is one specific role player that they do not have, it is a defensive midfielder.
Celtic have tried to fill that role for a long time. We have seen players like Ismaila Soro, Oliver Abildgaard, Tomoki Iwata and a few others. But nobody has really been able to get consistent opportunities there.
Could one Liverpool player be the solution to that? As tweeted by Ekrem Konur, Celtic are interested in Wataru Endo.

Endo played a decent bit of football for Liverpool last season but he does not seem to be a major part of Arne Slot's plans. The Japanese international has gotten substitute minutes here and there but is not playing much overall.
As a result, Endo leaving Liverpool in the near future would come as a surprise to anybody. But, there would be a few obstacles when it comes to a move to Celtic.
First would be the potential transfer fee. Liverpool would surely want an eight-figure offer to consider parting ways with him. It is hard to see Celtic shelling out that kind of money to sign a 31-year-old.
Secondly, it is hard to fit a high-profile defensive midfielder into the Celtic squad. If Endo was brought for a big fee, Brendan Rodgers would need to play him regularly. The issue is, the Hoops don't really need someone in that role in domestic games. Sure, they could do with one in the Champions League matches but those are few and far between.
