Celtic are said to be ready to commission their first sale of the summer as long as one key demand is met. The Bhoys are in for a fascinating summer as Martin O'Neill looks to strengthen his ranks after taking on the job full-time.
The Hoops got off to a disappointing start last term, and while O'Neill wasn't in charge at the time, he will want to learn from it. Celtic are expected to back O'Neill in the market, and the veteran boss seemed to give them little choice, making firm transfer demands prior to agreeing to take the role.
Engels set for exit
What we do know going into the summer window is that Arne Engels is almost certain to leave as he looks to take the next step in what should be a bright and exciting career. The midfielder is a real talent, still only 23 years of age, and it's clear he is ready to play in one of the very top leagues.
Engels attracted offers back in January, and big offers at that, but Celtic ultimately decided to reject the advances, believing they would get more this summer, while they also knew Engels was key to any remaining title hopes.
What looked like slim title hopes ended up with a dramatic title, and Engels was a central part of the turnaround as a staple of the midfield. And as predicted by the Bhoys, those big offers are now likely this summer, with Premier League clubs circling.
Crystal Palace are the latest to be linked, and according to a fresh report, the Eagles are now ready to press ahead with a move.
According to TeamTalk, Palace are ready to ramp up their efforts to secure a deal, and Celtic are said to be open to striking one. It's claimed the Hoops will sell Engels as long as their £25million asking price is met.
It's unclear whether Celtic will demand the fee upfront or whether they will accept one with add-ons, but they do appear resigned to selling for the right price this summer. Ultimately, Engels is going to want to take the step up, and he has earned the right to get it. Standing in his way at this point is only going to sour relationships, which nobody wants.
The sale would be a joint-record for Celtic, matching what Brighton paid for Matt O'Riley.
