The European Club Finance and Investment Landscape report has named Celtic as one of the profitable clubs in Europe. The Hoops are in the top four, with the numbers being eye-watering.

The report revealed that last season, the Celts recorded their highest-ever UEFA revenue. The figure stands at £41 million, which is an increase from the £32 million earned in 2024. The club also earned £31 million from kit and merchandise sales.

In terms of all-time gate revenue, Celtic are listed in the top 25 clubs, with a staggering £51 million from this revenue method alone.

All of this makes them the fourth most profitable club in Europe, clearing the likes of Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, with a pre-tax profit of £47 million in 2025. Above them are Lille, Crystal Palace and Atalanta.

The major reason as to why Celtic's figures are so positive is the incredible run in the UEFA Champions League last season, which almost saw the Glasgow giants qualify for the Round of 16.

We all remember both nights against Bayern Munich, and it was a stake through the hearts of Hoops fans when Alphonso Davies's last-minute equaliser knocked us out of the competition.

What followed was more domestic success, but ever since the summer transfer window, there has been increased pressure on the board, especially since the Celts had to settle for Europa League football after being knocked out of the Champions League at the qualifying stage by Kazakhstani side Kairat Almaty.

These figures go to show that there is every right for Celtic fans to be upset.

The question of finances and the board

A lot of supporters are stern in their judgment that the club should spend more, and when figures like this are revealed, it becomes even clearer that we should be.

If we want to compete at the top level, we need to bring in quality players, and the only way to get quality players is if we spend decent money. If Celtic keep going for the "cheap option", the team aren't going to get anywhere.

There is pressure on the Celtic board, with protests ramping up in recent months with the Dundee boycott and the tennis ball incident against Stuttgart, and fans are hoping that there will be a change at the end of the season. However, we wouldn't bank on it, as they seem happy to stay in their roles despite the backlash that they have been receiving.

They could redeem themselves slightly if they spend big in the summer, but that would be a drop in the ocean compared to the hurt they have caused this season. With the bans of the Green Brigade ultra group and fan media, there are people they will never get on side, and they shut out even more supporters when Dermot Desmond's son went on a needless rant at the AGM.

It feels like they don't have the best interests of the club at heart, even if they claim they do, and considering they have been caught in a lie already with their claims about Brendan Rodgers' behaviour pre-resignation, it's safe to say people are concerned.
