It is no secret that Luke McCowan grew up supporting Celtic. So, this league title win will mean more to him than most. It was last summer that he was brought in from Dundee FC to little fanfare. Most people expected this to be another signing that would not work out in the long run. But the Scotsman has exceeded most expectations and actually established himself as a regular contributor to Brendan Rodgers' team, even if not as a consistent starter.

The league might be won but there are still some important games left this season. Celtic's next league contest is an away trip to Ibrox take on the Rangers.

Celtic will be keen to win this one, or at least get a draw, having lost the previous two Glasgow derbies. Some serious questions will be raised about this team if they lose three on the trot against the Rangers, whether they finish with a treble or not.

Being a Celtic fan, McCowan will understand what rides on this game pretty well. And heading into it, he decided to take a little dig at the opposition when talking about a guard of honour at Ibrox and why he does not expect one. He said:

"I don’t know how it would be if it was on the other foot... we’ll never really know I don’t think."

Celtic: Rangers fans' angry reaction to Luke McCowan's comments

It is safe to say that no Rangers fan enjoyed that cheeky comment from McCowan. One wrote: "They won't really know. Does he expect Celtic winning leagues for the rest of his life?"

Another wrote: "It’s only been since 2021 Celtic lost the league, guys going on as if it’s never happened and never will."

Let's see what the future holds but at the moment, it is safe to say that there is quite the gap between Celtic and the Rangers in the league. It is one that they will have to do a lot to decrease over the coming seasons. Of course, the impending takeover has raised expectations but the results remain to be seen.
