Celtic are pretty good when it comes to moving in silence in the transfer market. A lot of times, they make moves for players that the media have no clue about. And another such incident has transpired recently, as it looks like the Hoops are spreading their network far and wide to replace Nicolas Kuhn, who left for Como FC in a €19 million-plus deal earlier this summer.
Celtic have been linked with a number of wingers in recent times. A move for Michel-Ange Balikwisha is rumoured to be likely while there are plenty others on their transfer wishlist according to the media.
But it looks like the Hoops have now submitted an offer for a player that no outlet had linked the club with beforehand. Unfortunately, it was turned down but it remains to be seen if Celtic return with a second offer.
As reported by The Celtic Way, Go Ahead Eagles have rejected a £1.5million offer from the Scottish champions for Jakob Breum. The Dutch club believe that the Danish winger has a £5 million transfer valuation.
Celtic quietly make bid for winger they've never been linked to
Of course, that kind of a bid does leave you scratching your head. Breum scored 10 goals in the Eredivisie last season and also provided 5 assists in just 26 appearances. He has also represented Denmark at multiple youth levels.
He also has a contract with the club that runs until the summer of 2027. So, Go Ahead Eagles are under no immediate pressure to agree a deal to move him on. So, there is very little chance that an offer in the region was ever going to be accepted.
Let's see what the future holds for Breum. For now, it looks like Celtic have fallen far short in their attempt to sign him this summer.
