There are a number of players who are expected to head for the Celtic exit door when the summer transfer window opens. In most of those cases, it should not make much of a difference to the Hoops, as they are not an integral part of the squad. But then, there are a few who have made a positive impact but could leave despite that.

One player who has actually impressed many with his recent showings is Maik Nawrocki. The Polish defender was brought into the starting XI out from the cold against the Rangers, due to the unavailability of Liam Scales and Auston Trusty.

Celtic lost on the day but Nawrocki was one of their better performers. He started the next game against Hearts and did well once again, keeping a clean sheet.

Despite those impressive displays, Nawrocki has found himself out of the starting XI once again. In fact, he has not played since those two games. So, it might be time for him to consider leaving in the summer. On the other hand, one also has to question why he has been left out again.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Hartson said when talking about Nawrocki and his absence despite his recent performances:

"Absolutely not, he came in and I think he has played one game since that (Rangers).

“It’s about playing, being involved and making an impact on the team, in some way or another. If I am out in the cold. I want to go. Why would I want to stay somewhere where I am not playing every week?"

It would make sense for someone like Nawrocki to leave the club in the summer transfer window. There is no doubt that he has talent, as he showed in his two performances recently.

But for one reason or the other, Brendan Rodgers appears to believe that he has better options at centre-back. As a result, the Polish youngster has not gotten too many chances to show that what he is capable of.

Overall, he has made just four appearances this season. That is not enough for a 24-year-old, who needs to be playing regular football at this point in his career to grow.

Some things are just not meant to work out and that seems to be the case with Nawrocki and Celtic. It might be best for both parties to part ways in the summer.
