More players have left Celtic this January than those who have joined the club. And it looks like another one is on his way out of Parkhead now, ready to take the familiar route to the English Championship. It is not someone who was part of Brendan Rodgers' first-team plans. In fact, he had never even made a senior appearance for the Hoops.
At the end of the day though, it is another blow to the club's hopes of developing and promoting youngsters into the senior team. They have had a lot of issues with that in recent years but unfortunately, the situation does not seem to be getting any better.
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic's Josh Dede is having a medical at Middlesbrough on Wednesday after agreeing a deal. His contract with the club was set to expire at the end of the season and that has opened the door for the English side to finalise terms with the Glasgow giants.
Coming through the youth ranks at Celtic, Dede has been a mainstay in the B Team. A versatile player, he is capable of playing both as a right-back and as a winger. The 19-year-old is set to leave the club without having ever made a senior appearance though.

Of course, Dede is not the first highly-rated youngster to leave the club early on in his career. Names like Rocco Vata, Ben Doak and Daniel Kelly come to mind immediately.
It is not that everybody leaves Celtic and enjoys success elsewhere. But considering the club's recent record when it comes to bringing through youngsters into the first-team, it is not hard to understand why so many are comfortable leaving.
This is certainly an area where Celtic need to improve. As for Dede, we can only wish him the best of luck moving forward.
