Celtic are expected to be busy in the final few days of the ongoing winter transfer window. One area where the club might urgently need to strengthen is striker after Kyogo Furuhashi completed a move to Rennes. He had been the Hoops' first-choice number 9 for the past three and a half years and scored 85 goals over that period of time. It goes without saying that replacing him will not be an easy task.

Celtic do have Adam Idah, who was signed for a significant transfer fee in the summer. But he is in the midst of a 14-game goalless run at the moment. It is safe to say that the Irishman is not in a position to lead the line as the main striker for the rest of the campaign.

There is also the theory that Daizen Maeda could play as a striker following Kyogo's exit. He does feature there for the Japan national team and also found great success in that role at Yokohama F. Marinos, before joining Celtic. Also, Jota has been brought back and he is at his best coming in from the left flank.

That being said, most Celtic fans would be happier if an out-and-out replacement for Kyogo was signed in this window. Mathias Kvistgaarden is someone who has been heavily linked with a move to Parkhead lately. But now, it looks like a move is unlikely.

Celtic will have to break their club record if they want to sign the Danish forward. As reported by the Daily Mail, Brondby have placed a £14 million transfer asking price on Kvistgaarden.

It is very unlikely that Celtic would shell out that kind of a figure for a player who is not proven at a high level. Of course, nothing should ever be ruled out.

Brondby can place a high transfer fee on Kvistgaarden at this moment. After all, it is believed that Eintracht Frankfurt also want to sign him as the replacement for Omar Marmoush, who has joined Manchester City.
