It would be safe to say that the Rangers gave Celtic a scare in the Scottish League Cup final at Hampden Park last weekend. Philippe Clement's side managed to equalise not once but twice, late in the second half, only to lose on penalty kicks after Ridvan Yilmaz failed to convert his as Kasper Schmeichel spectacularly saved his effort.

The Scottish League Cup win was Celtic's 119th trophy, surpassing the combined 118 that the two versions of the Rangers have won. But the Hoops had a few worries coming out of the game as well.

One of them has to be the fitness situation of James Forrest. The Celtic veteran played down the seriousness of the matter in the post-match interview but unfortunately, he is set to be out of action for quite some time.

Forrest will be out for around six weeks. As reported by Glasgow World, Brendan Rodgers said:

"James will be probably six weeks.

“He had a real bad blow in the game and to be fair to him to carry on, he showed great courage to do that. But yeah, sadly we’ll miss him for up to that length of time."

Forrest is not a starter for Celtic at this point in his career but he remains a part of Rodgers' plans. He is often brought on as a substitute and appears to be the main cover option on the wing right now with Luis Palma barely featuring this season.

As a result, Forrest's injury will come as a blow for Celtic. It remains to be seen if that results in Palma getting some more playing time. The Honduran winger has been linked with a move to the MLS in recent weeks.

On the other hand, Celtic are believed to be looking to sign a winger next month as well. They have been linked with Michel-Ange Balikwisha, who has recently returned from injury. Jota could be a possible option as well, as things have not worked out for him at Rennes since joining the Ligue 1 side in the summer and he could be on the move once again.
