This winter window has been a lot more about Celtic players leaving than fresh faces arriving. We have seen plenty of players depart with the most significant exit being that of Kyogo Furuhashi, who has moved to Ligue 1 side Rennes. But there could be a few more heading out before the close of this transfer period.
Kyogo leaving was a blow for Celtic. But in some cases, it would make sense for both the club and the player to part ways.
One such case is that of Luis Palma. Once a key starter for Celtic, the Honduran winger has lost his place in Brendan Rodgers' starting XI in recent times. And with the return of Jota, chances are going to be even harder to come by.
So, leaving seems like the best option for him right now and it looks like an exit is not far away either. As reported by Giannis Chorianopoulos, Olympiacos are really close to signing Palma from Celtic.
Celtic player really close to joining new club
Palma already has experience of playing in Greece. Celtic had signed him from Aris FC. So, it is not hard to see why Olympiacos might view him as a good option to bring in.
There is no question about Palma's talent and potential. We saw plenty of that early on in his time at Parkhead. But he has struggled to showcase his best on a consistent basis. Hopefully, he will redisocver his form at Olympiacos.
As for Celtic, the exit should not have too big of an impact considering the little amount of football Palma was playing. Also, there is a possibility that they could sign another winger this winter and have been linked with a move for Sarpsborg's Sondre Ørjasæter ahead of the close of the transfer window.
