Celtic have said goodbye to plenty of players recently. Of course, the big one was the departure of Kyogo Furuhashi, as he left to join Rennes. Other than that, Luis Palma, Odin Thiago Holm and Stephen Welsh left on loan while Alex Valle's temporary stint was cut short so that he could join Como in the Serie A.

Now, it is time to add another name to the list of players who have left Celtic this winter. It is that of Adam Montgomery.

Queen's Park FC have announced the arrival of Montgomery on their official website. He joins the Scottish Championship club from Celtic on loan for the rest of the season.

At 22 years of age, this will be Montgomery's fifth loan club as he has struggled to nail down a spot for himself in the Celic squad after some early success. He has already spent time at Aberdeen, St Johnstone, Fleetwood Town and Motherwell.

Montgomery had actually enjoyed a decent bit of football early on during Ange Postecoglou's time as Celtic manager, when the squad did not have any real depth. But since then, he has struggled to find his feet at the club.

Some hopes had been raised that he would get some playing time in the second half of this season following the departure of Valle. But this loan spell makes it very clear that Montgomery was not in the club's first-team plans.

He still does have a long-term contract with Celtic. One can only hope that he is successful in taking the next step one day.

As for Queen's Park, they are fifth in the Championship right now and don't have much hope of promotion. One would imagine that Montgomery is going to be a starter there.
