Both Celtic and Aberdeen have won all seven of their league games so far this season. In fact, the Dons technically have the better record in the 24/25 campaign overall. They have won all of their matches until now while the Hoops did lose 7-1 against Borussia Dortmund away at Signal Iduna Park in the Champions League.

Of course, Aberdeen have not faced opposition of that level. They will face the toughest test of their season so far though when they take on Celtic at Parkhead after the international break.

Not many expect Aberdeen to keep up this pace until the end of this season. But based on current form, this is going to be an intriguing contest between the top two teams in Scotland. Also, as Leicester City proved in that iconic 15/16 campaign, miracles can and do happen in football.

Celtic have not looked anywhere near their best in the past two games. Jimmy Thelin's side might look to take advantage of that.

Celtic player makes brutally honest claim about Aberdeen

Luke McCowan arrived at Celtic on deadline day from Dundee FC. And while he has not started for the Hoops yet, the midfielder has made some promising cameo appearances off the bench.

McCowan does not seem to be viewing Aberdeen as title contenders despite their perfect start to the season. As reported by the Daily Record, the Celtic summer signing said:

"No. We’re are only seven games in so sadly I can’t say they are. But after seven games, there are no title contenders. They will be saying the same and will be taking it each game.

"We know we have a tough game coming up. It doesn’t matter who you are playing, it’s always going to be a tough game. And in this league if you treat it any differently you are going to get punished. It’s about being aware of that and having the same mentality going into every game."

A lot will become clear about Aberdeen's title credentials when they make the trip to Celtic Park later this month. If they can win, or even earn a draw, it will only increase the belief of their players and fans. But if they end up losing, it would be like a bubble bursting.

Of course, Celtic cannot afford to take the opposition lightly. One bad day at the office and the Scottish champions could find themselves trailing in the title race.
