Celtic player heavily criticised after making error for national team
Celtic have made some good signings this summer. Players like Arne Engels, Alex Valle and Luke McCowan have made a positive impression already while Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah are proving that their loan spells at Parkhead were not flukes. That being said, the club deserve special credit for bringing in Kasper Schmeichel.
It is never easy to get things right when it comes to signing a player in the second half of his 30s. But when it comes to Schmeichel, it appears to have been a bit of a masterstroke.
The Danish international has been fantastic in Celtic colours so far. In the league, he has conceded once in seven games, breaking several records along the way. The only negative from his time at Parkhead until now has been the 7-1 defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund away at Signal Iduna Park in the Champions League.
Things have not gone as well for Schmeichel while representing the Denmark national team though. He made an error as Spain's Martin Zubimendi scored in a 1-0 win for the European champions.

Schmeichel has been heavily criticised in the media for that error. Many even believe that the national team needs to look towards the future and bring in someone new.
Schmeichel deserves his fair share of props as well for facing the criticism head-on. But then, you'd expect that from someone of his experience. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, he told Bold:
"It’s one of those situations as a keeper. I didn’t see the ball to begin with. It hit Pierre and then I actually had to bet a little bit.
“It went to my left, and I didn’t manage to read the screw on the ball. And then I got a little too far over it. That’s life as a goalkeeper. That something like this can happen.
“Every time a goal is scored, I will always look back and see that there is something I could do better. If you’ve been in there, you know what it’s like. It doesn’t always look good on TV."
Schmeichel has performed brilliantly for Denmark over the years, even recently. Celtic fans would be worried that a goalkeeper's confidence would be hurt after making an error at that level but not when it comes to the 37-year-old, who has pretty much seen it all and done it all.
