This summer, Celtic were unable to agree on a few contract extensions that the fans were hoping for. After a long-drawn saga, Greg Taylor has officially joined PAOK, with his deal at Parkhead running out recently. On the other hand, Nicolas Kuhn looks to be on his way to Como FC, although in his case, there were years left. There had been rumours of fresh terms being offered to the German winger but it clearly led to nowhere of substance.

There is also speculation about Celtic wanting to hand Daizen Maeda a fresh and improved contract amid interest in the Japanese international. Let's see if they are successful in that aim.

For now, the club have succeeded when it comes to handing deals to its future. As reported by Celtic's official website, Hassan Dembele, Nathan Meechan, Joseph Haney, Rocco Di Giacomo, Emmanuel Obidiwe, Lucas Clearie and Kayden Daly have signed their first professional contracts with the Hoops.

One issue that Celtic have faced in recent years is that many of the club's best youngsters have decided to leave early in their careers rather than wait for their chances to come at Parkhead. So, this is a positive update from the Scottish champions.

Obviously, the next step will be to provide them with the right platform to succeed at Celtic Park. The pathway into the senior team has just not been there in recent times.

We have seen some players like Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh make the jump. But they can be considered squad players at best, although in the case of the former, he is a full Scottish international.

The lack of a pathway is one of the primary reasons many Celtic youngsters have chosen to try their luck elsewhere. So, the club need to make sure they improve in this regard as soon as possible.
