We are already in the final week of the summer transfer window. Celtic fans had been hoping that the club would have most of their business already done by this point, but unfortunately, that has not been the case. Instead, it appears that the Hoops have left themselves a lot of work to do and plenty of areas still in need of reinforcements.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of Michel-Ange Balikwisha. That seems like only a matter of time but before that, an exit has been announced.
Celtic have announced that Marco Tilio has joined Rapid Vienna. The Austrian club confirmed on their website that the Australian has signed a contract through the 2028/29 season with them.
Tilio's exit has been in the works for a while. Initially, it was believed that he would leave around the same time as Luis Palma. But due to a lack of options on the flanks, the Hoops seemed to be reluctant to part ways with him at this point. Also, there have been some renegotiations along the way too.
Celtic officially announce late summer transfer move
At first, the idea was for Tilio to join Rapid Vienna on a loan deal along with an obligation to buy next summer. But he has now joined the Austrian club on a permanent basis immediately.
It is believed that Celtic were wary of their foreign loan spots. So, they were more keen on a permanent move and have gotten it.
Now, it remains to be seen how Celtic go about bringing in new players. Tilio's exit does suggest that a winger signing is close. It is no secret that Balikwisha is on his way to Parkhead and appeared to say goodbye to Royal Antwerp at the end of their most recent game. Let's see when that ends up finalised.
