Adam Idah's lack of form at the start of the season has worried Celtic fans. Yes, he did score 20 goals in the previous campaign despite largely playing a backup role. But, when given the chance to make the starting number 9 role his own, the Irishman has never managed to take it. In fact, he often struggles to make his presence felt in games and at this point, many have given up on the idea of him ever being ready to lead the line for a club of this magnitude.

Celtic need someone who will score goals on a consistent basis. They have been linked with Jamie Vardy on and off for a while now.

It is not hard to see why a reunion with Brendan Rodgers might make sense, even at 38 years of age. But almost out of nowhere, it looks like Celtic have turned their attention towards a 24-year-old Ligue 1 striker.

As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are readying a formal move for Lorient forward Sambou Soumano. The Hoopshave registered their interest in a move for the 24-year-old Senegalese striker, and could submit an official approach in the coming days.

Soumano is currently playing in Ligue 1 for Lorient. He has scored once in his two appearances in the French top flight so far this season.

Most of his success has come while in Ligue 2 though. Last season, he scored 14 goals to help Lorient to promotion. In the campaign before that, he managed to score 12 times while on loan at Quevilly-Rouen.

It remains to be seen how things play out over the coming week, with very little time left in the summer transfer window. One can only hope that Celtic are successful in signing another quality striker, whether it be Soumano or someone else. Let's see what happens.
