Another Celtic exit has been made official as the changes continue to take place at Parkhead over the summer. Plenty more are expected to come over the upcoming weeks and months. That being said, the Hoops need to be careful that it does not become too much at once and end up disrupting the balance that has been established and made them so successful.
Of course, there will be plenty of on-field changes this summer. But this one is off it, and not even in the dugout to be exact.
For a while, Darren O'Dea has been expected to leave his role as the pathways manager of the club. Swansea City wanted him as their assistant head coach, And he did not pass up on the opportunity to make a return to coaching.
The exit has now been made official. Swansea City announced his arrival while Celtic have confirmed that O'Dea has left the Club to join the Championship club.
Celtic officially announce another Parkhead departure
O'Dea came through the youth ranks at Celtic, played at the senior level for the Hoops for quite a few years, returned after his playing career to coach at the youth level and was most recently the pathways manager. So, it is safe to say that he wore a lot of different caps at Parkhead over the past few decades.
But it looks like he was not ready to give up on his coaching ambitions yet. So, the chance to coach at Swansea City might have been too good to pass up on. We can only wish him well in this next step in his career.
At the same time, Celtic need to make sure that they replace him. That is an important role at the club and an area where they need to show improvement.
