Celtic have been left in a difficult situation following a long-term injury to Jota that could keep him out for longer than six months, potentially even up to nine months, meaning he might not play again this year. It has come at the worst possible time for the Portuguese winger, who had just started to find his feet in football again after back-to-back nightmare spells at Al-Ittihad and Rennes.
Unfortunately for Jota, it is now back to square one for him. By the time that he returns to action, it is very likely that someone else would have nailed down a starting spot on the left flank.
Who will that player be? That remains to be seen. There is no outright candidate at the moment, unless Brendan Rodgers decides that it is time for Daizen Maeda to move back there for the long run, while Adam Idah continues as the starting number 9 for Celtic.
Let's see how the entire situation plays out over the coming weeks and months. In the summer, the Hoops may look to make an addition in that area of the pitch though.
Celtic offered perfect chance to sign English winger
This might be the perfect chance for Celtic to make a move for Tyrhys Dolan. While he has played mostly on the right, he can play on the left flank as well, if the situation calls for it. He has featured quite a bit as a number 10 too.
At the same time, the Hoops might need to make an addition on the right as well with question marks over Nicolas Kuhn's long-term future at Parkhead. It is very possible that he might end up leaving the club this summer.
Interestingly, Celtic were linked with a move for Dolan in the summer of 2022 as well but nothing happened back then. His contract at Blackburn Rovers runs out at the end of the ongoing campaign. As things stand, he looks unlikely to extend his deal.
Dolan has enjoyed an excellent campaign with Blackburn Rovers, scoring 7 goals and providing 6 assists. And at 23 years of age, one would expect the English winger to improve moving forward.
