With Jota picking up a long-term injury, Celtic might need to sign another winger this summer. The Portuguese ace is expected to be out for six to nine months, meaning he might not play again this year. On the other hand, there is a possibility that Nicolas Kuhn might end up leaving in the summer as well.
Naturally, Celtic are being linked with quite a few wingers in recent weeks. But it looks like a move for one of them is not on the cards.
As reported by Il Messaggero (via Daily Record), Celtic had made contact with Lazio sporting director Angelo Mariano Fabiani about a possible loan but Gustav Isaksen's intermediaries could not be convinced over a deal. Tottenham Hotspur and Bologna are also "pushing" for a deal.
Isaksen is someone who has been linked with Celtic for quite some time now. But it looks like the Danish international winger is not interested in a move to Parkhead.
Celtic contact made to sign 24-year-old Serie A winger
Isaksen had struggled earlier on at Lazio but he has found his form in the Serie A this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the 24-year-old has scored 6 goals and provided 6 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.
Celtic have been linked with a few other wingers in recent times as well. Sondre Orjeseater of Sarpsborg 08 and Million Manhoef of Stoke City are two such players. It remains to be seen if the Hoops end up making a move for any of them.
Whoever comes in might need to fill the starting role on the wing early on next season. So, it has to be a player of that quality. Of course, there is also the possibility that they try to bring back Marco Tilio, who has been in excellent form for Melbourne City FC.
