It’s a long way to the summer transfer window yet. But it’s never too early for Celtic to be making plans. Some fans might feel the club have left it far too late in recent windows when it comes to making additions. No matter when they make a move, the research and preparation work on that will start much earlier.

Brendan Rodgers will be keen to add more quality to his squad. He’s said that time and again while at the club. This summer will be no different. Especially if as suspected we might see some departures from the current squad by then.

That can feel like bad news, but if the transfer offer is right then it is usually a good move to move on. That is how the Celtic model works.

On the other hand, there are rumours of Celtic interest in a Swiss midfielder. Alvyn Sanches is having a strong season at Lausanne. The 22-year-old is his club's top scorer this season with 14 goals across all competitions. He has four assists to his name too. Unsurprisingly, that has caught the eye of the Hoops.

Celtic could be in contention to sign high-flying Swiss midfielder

It looks as though his great season so far has had an impact on Sanches' transfer value. Estimates suggest it has doubled to around £7.5 million. If he makes his senior debut for Switzerland soon, that might rise even higher.

The competition from English clubs shouldn't deter the Hoops. As reported by Blick, agent Fahd Adamson said:

"Before signing, Alvyn must feel that the coach understands him, that he has a concrete project in his pocket for him. The project is more important than the championship."

A quick thought on how Rodgers has helped Arne Engels develop in his time here so far would show how Sanches could also benefit from a move to Celtic. It may not be the right time for a step up to the Premier League and if the Hoops can again secure Champions League football, it could be a big draw for the player.

It’s early days yet and many weeks of rumours will link the club with potential signings. Sanches does look like an exciting prospect. Although described as a midfielder, he has also played as a forward this season. That level of versatility is admired by Celtic and could make the player an incredible signing if it happens.
