After what looks set to be a very successful 24/25 season, it will be interesting to see how Celtic approach the summer transfer window. One would hope that the ambition is to improve the team and go further in the Champions League. We already know one signing the club will be making as a pre-contract has already been agreed with Kieran Tierney, whose Arsenal contract expires at the end of the campaign.

At the same time, there are calls for Jeffrey Schlupp to be signed on a permanent basis as well. The Crystal Palace loanee has been immensely impressive since arriving on deadline day of the winter transfer window.

A lot of Celtic fans were not impressed by the decision to sign a 32-year-old player, struggling for minutes at Crystal Palace, on loan. But it has not taken long for Schlupp to prove people wrong and win them over.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Michael Stewart said:

"Come the summer, I would imagine that Celtic will put a deal in place to try and sign him. His decision is ‘what better option are you going to get?’.

“You might not be playing every week, but as you see with Celtic, there are so many games. He will play a good chunk of games if he were to sign on."

Celtic should definitely try and sign Schlupp on a permanent basis. Although Tierney is expected to be the starting left-back when he arrives, one cannot overlook his injury record.

So, Celtic will need to have a smart strategy around Tierney and try to manage his work load as much as possible, in hopes of avoiding further injuries. And in such a scenario, someone like Schlupp could be invaluable as a backup option, especially with Greg Taylor's future at the club in doubt.

Taylor is expected to leave in the summer as his current deal is running out and he has not signed an extension so far. Let's see how that situation plays out.

Also, Schlupp is capable of playing in a variety of roles. So, his versatility would be an asset to Celtic as well, if signed on a permanent basis.
