This upcoming January transfer window could be just as important for Celtic as who they end up appointing as their next permanent manager. Whether it is Wilfried Nancy or somebody else, he is only going to be as good as the team available to him. And it is safe to say that there are a lot of holes in this current squad at Parkhead.

Celtic need a rebuild. They have done so for a while now, although they somehow continuously pushed it back while Brendan Rodgers was the manager. Perhaps that will change now that a new head coach is set to be brought in after the Northern Irishman's resignation.

There are quite a few positions in this squad which need reinforcements. But it looks like a priority has emerged ahead of the winter window, and for good reason as well.

As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are working to bring in a new centre-forward in the January transfer window. They will look to address their striking problems.

There are a lot of questions surrounding the position at this point in time. What does the future hold for Kelechi Iheanacho now that Rodgers is gone? Will Johnny Kenny be able to hold up his form? And how long will it take before Callum Osmand is available again after undergoing surgery?

It is safe to say that there are a lot of issues up top. And one cannot forget that Celtic never really replaced the likes of Kyogo and Adam Idah when they left the club.

Then there is the situation of Daizen Maeda. While he has played mostly as a winger recently, he is an option up for the Hoops. But it is believed that he wants to leave in this winter window.
