After the disappointing summer transfer window, there needs to be some positivity brought back to Celtic and quickly. It has been all negative over the past couple of weeks. And while the need for change is quite clear, the club need to find a way to successfully navigate the games at least until January, even with this weakened squad.
On the other hand, it looks like plans are already being put in place for future signings. And a Kazakh international is on their radar.
Celtic recently lost to Kairat Almaty in the Champions League qualifiers. Now, they seem to be the favourites to sign one of their former players.
As reported by The Celtic Way, according to reports in Kazakhstan, the Hoops have jumped to the front of the queue ahead of Hearts and plenty of other European clubs in the race to Galymzhan Kenzhebek. He is out of contract at the end of this year.
Celtic named favourites to sign international player out of nowhere
Kenzhebek is 22 years of age and he is a winger. He currently plays for Yelimay in the Kazakh league and has been in good form. He has scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists in 7 appearances for the club so far.
At the international level, he has made seven appearances. And he found the back of the net for Kazakhstan for the first time this summer, scoring against Belarus.
Of course, it does look like he is a good talent and he is believed to have impressed Celtic scouts. That being said, Kenzhebek would be another project signing rather than someone who is expected to come in and make an immediate impact on the first-team. Is that what the Hoops need right now as the fans call for ambition to be shown?
