Celtic must be active in the upcoming January transfer window. We hope that a new manager will be in place by then. And alongside that, the club must also focus on rebuilding a squad that has become stagnant over the years. One could argue that that was the case for the entirety of Brendan Rodgers' second run at Parkhead, which is why it never seemed to click for him this time around around.
It remains to be seen who the next manager will be. Wilfried Nancy has been heavily linked with the move but now there are suggestions that an official approach has not been made yet, which is a twist in the tale for sure and one that not many had expected.
No matter what happens in that situation, there is never going to be a substitute for signing top players. And it looks like a phenomenal talent is going to be available on loan this January. It is a situation that Celtic should keep an eye on.
As reported by the Daily Mail (via SPORTbible), Arsenal would be willing to consider offers for certain fringe players. Ethan Nwaneri is one of them although that would only be on loan.
Celtic must sign phenomenal talent Arsenal have made available
If Celtic are able to sign a talent like Nwaneri, it can only be a positive, even if it is only on loan. His record at the youth levels is brilliant and even at the senior level, he has scored 10 goals for the club.
In the summer, he was being linked with a move away before signing a long-term contract extension. Despite that, playing time has been hard to come by. Nwaneri has not started any of their games in the Premier League this season and has played only 425 minutes of football in total. That is not nearly enough.
A stint at a club like Celtic could help him though. He will learn what it takes to play under the pressure of winning every time you take to the pitch.
On the other hand, someone like Nwaneri could be an excellent contributor for Celtic as he is able to play out the right flank, up top and as a number 10. With Daizen Maeda expeted to leave, the Hoops need a player like that.
