There is no question that Celtic have been the best team in Scotland for over a decade now. They won 9IAR but were unfortunately unable to win the tenth in the 20/21 campaign. But the Hoops have built up quite the run once again. They are just one point away from winning the league title for the fourth consecutive time.

The Hoops have been equally great in cup competitions as well. They are trying to win a treble once again this season. If successful, it will be their sixth one in nine years.

So, it is safe to say that the Rangers have had a tough time catching up with Celtic. Their latest hope in that regard has been a takeover. But now, it looks like that could end up falling apart if things don't move quickly.

The Enterprises Group of the San Francisco 49ers NFL franchise have agreed a deal in principle to purchase a stake in the Rangers. As reported by the Daily Mail (via Ibrox News), the investors are frustrated with how long it is taking to complete the deal. The US consortium could walk away if a deal is not reached soon.

Of course, that is worrying news for Rangers fans. On the other hand, many Celtic supporters would have been predicting something similar for quite some time now.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Ibrox club. Their fans are surely hoping that a takeover ends up going through. But that is in doubt now.

On the other hand, Celtic have other things to worry about at the moment. Immediately on their horizon is the Scottish Cup semi-final. This weekend they will be taking on St Johnstone at Hampden Park in an important game.
