Leicester City are set to be relegated from the Premier League. That means that a number of their key players could look to leave in the summer. Celtic are a club who will be looking to strengthen in the next transfer window. So, it would make sense for Brendan Rodgers to keep an eye out on his former side.
One of the areas where Celtic could be looking to strengthen is on the wings. Another is upfront at centre-forward. What about signing someone who is capable of playing in both those positions.
One of the rare bright spots for Leicester City this season has been Stephy Mavididi. The 26-year-old suffered a muscle injury recently and could be out for the remainder of the season.
In 30 Premier League appearances, he has scored 4 goals and provided an assist. That might not look impressive on paper but when you consider how tough things have been for the Foxes, that is not the worst output for a winger. In the previous campaign, he was one of their best in the Championship, scoring 12 goals and providing 6 assists.
Celtic must sign 26-year-old Leicester City standout
Someone like Mavididi could be a solid addition for Celtic. Of course, a lot would depend on the transfer fee.
Transfermarkt has his transfer value at around €11 million. When Mavididi had joined Leicester City back in the summer of 2023, it was believed to be for a fee in the region of €7.5 million. And considering the fact that Leicester City have been relegated, he could be available for a bargain figure.
Mavidid has been at some top clubs over the course of his career. He came through the ranks at Arsenal and then joined Juventus. It is at Montpellier that he made a name for himself though before joining Leicester City.
