Celtic were linked with quite a few wingers late in the winter transfer window despite signing Jota. Perhaps Luis Palma's loan exit to Olympiacos had something to do with that. Ultimately, they did not make an addition in that area of the pitch although Jeffrey Schlupp can play on the flanks if the situation calls for it.
It remains to be seen if Celtic try to strengthen their roster of wingers in the summer. And if they do, it might be worth trying to sign one of Real Madrid's most talented youngsters.
Gonzalo Garcia has only made one senior appearance for Real Madrid so far this season. He did score in that game though, coming off the bench to find the back of the net against Leganes in the Copa Del Rey.
It is his form at the Castilla level that should put Garcia's name on Celtic's radar. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 21 goals and provided 3 assists in 23 Primera Federación - Grupo II appearances.
Celtic must sign 21-goal Real Madrid winger next summer
Signing youngsters from Real Madrid is not the toughest task in the world. In fact, the club appear to prefer that route of player development over giving them consistent chances at Santiago Bernabeu.
Plenty of Real Madrid players are out on loan right now. Also, the club seem to be open to transferring them for low fees as long as a 50% sell-on clause and a buyback option are included in the deal.
Celtic should definitely consider signing someone as talented as Garcia. He knows his way to the back of the net, which is evident from his three hattricks this season.
Of course, this is nothing more than a suggestion at this point in time. One can only hope that genuine interest develops.
