Celtic could do with avoiding going into this upcoming international break with another bad taste in their mouths.

The last international break couldn't have been much worse. Celtic went into the break on the back of three straight defeats and Martin O'Neill suggested he could even walk away from his position if he felt he could not improve results.

O'Neill ultimately decided to stick around, and since then league form has been okay, but Celtic have continued to struggle in Europe, yet to win or even pick up a point from their first three games.

To make matters worse, Celtic lost to Falkirk in the league on Sunday, following up a home draw with Dundee United in the worst way.

The Bhoys have that bad taste in their mouth again, and there is another international break approaching, beginning as soon as Monday.

Celtic do not want to be going into that break stewing on poor results, as they did for the last break, which was three weeks in length.

The Bhoys are unlikely to get anything from the home clash with Besiktas, who have a much strong squad. But they must find a way to beat Kilmarnock this weekend to avoid the same scenario playing out, for questions to continue to surround O'Neill and his future for another couple of weeks.

The club is already engulfed in a bad atmosphere due to frustration between the fans and the club chiefs, and the results on the pitch are obviously not helping. The break will only emphasise the team's struggles, especially with Scotland realistically having little to play for during this international window.

A win over Kilmarnock will at least keep Celtic four points clear at the top, and they will have something to stand by, with a Europa League exit at the league phase looking pretty likely however you slice it.

Celtic likely need nine to 10 points, and with Besiktas and Marseille on the docket, paired with the fact the Bhoys couldn't even beat Ferencvaros at home, the chances of them racking up that points total look remote.
