There has been a lot of talk regarding contract extensions around Celtic in recent times. The big question has been whether Brendan Rodgers will be handed one. And even if he is, will the Northern Irishman want to continue at Parkhead? We will find those answers soon. For the time being, the good news is that the Hoops have managed to agree a new deal with one of their most talented youngsters.

One of the major complaints that fans have had in recent years is the club's inability to promote their academy standouts to the senior team. Hopefully, we see some improvement in that department moving forward.

Celtic have announced on their official website that Rhys Dargie has pen to paper on an extended deal. His extension runs until the summer of 2028.

Dargie is one of the brightest talents in the B Team right now. And at 18 years of age, one would hope that he starts getting a few chances at the senior level in the near future.

Dargie has put up some impressive numbers at the B team level so far. In 19 appearances in the Lowland League, he has 13 goals and a couple of assists to his name.

Those are excellent numbers for a winger. Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic can help him develop from a tremendous youth-level player to a first-team star.

For that to happen, they will need to give him a proper chance to find his feet at the senior level. That does not mean sending him out on loan to a lower league side and then never giving him an opportunity in the senior team, and then eventually moving on.

We have seen that happen with far too many players in recent times. Hopefully, Dargie's name won't be added to that list.
