Celtic have announced another signing earlier today, bringing in Tomas Cvancara on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach for the rest of the season. He is on an initial loan but it is believed that the Hoops have an option to buy included in the deal, in the region of £7 million. The club did need to sign at least one striker badly this winter, and it is great to see that they have brought in an international-level talent.

On the other hand, it looks like Celtic have pulled out of the race to sign a highly-rated winger. It is another international player, but this time around, it seems like the Hoops have decided not to follow up on their initial interest for some reason.

The player we are talking about is none other than Uruguayan international winger Nacho Laquintana. He is currently on the books at RB Bragantino, and it had been suggested earlier in the month that Celtic were exploring a move for him.

But now, as reported by The Celtic Way, the Hoops are unlikely to sign Laquintana this month. The player was keen to join the Parkhead club after talks were held at the beginning of the January transfer window. However, the Glasgow giants have yet to follow up on their initial interest and now look set to miss out on the chance to sign the Uruguay international.

Someone like Laquintana could have been a pretty good addition to this Celtic side, considering his experience playing for Uruguay and some top clubs in South America. Of course, there would have been question marks over how he would adjust to the jump to Europe.

Of course, this does not mean that Celtic are not going to sign a winger at all in this window. On the contrary, several reliable sources have suggested that they have already made an offer for Jesuran Rak-Sakyi to Crystal Palace.

All things considered, Celtic still have a lot of work to do in the winter transfer window. Hopefully, they remain busy over the next two weeks.
