Kyogo Furuhashi has been a superstar for Celtic ever since arriving in the summer of 2021 and remains a regular starter for the team. One cannot overlook the fact though that under the management of Brendan Rodgers, he has failed to reach the heights that he did when Ange Postecoglou was the manager. And in recent times, he has been constantly linked with a move away from Parkhead.

Is it because it is an easy rumour to come up with? Or is there something more concrete to the constant speculation surrounding Kyogo's Celtic future?

In the summer, Manchester City were believed to be interested in Kyogo as a replacement for Julian Alvarez. Earlier this winter, he was rumoured to be a transfer target for Atlanta United of the MLS. And now, it looks like a move to France could be on the cards for the Japanese international.

Rennes are the French Ligue 1 club who have been linked with Kyogo recently. Also, it looks like they are willing to wait to make their move for the Celtic striker.

As reported by Ouest-France (via Daily Record), Rennes "would like to move quickly" but "uncertainties" around Celtic's progression has held up any discussions. It is said that Kyogo is still "among the priorities" with the French side willing to wait on a deal.

To be honest, if Celtic green light a Kyogo exit this winter, it would raise a lot of eyebrows. Despite not being at the top of his game, he is the club's best striker by far with Adam Idah in the middle of a long goalless run.

Even if Celtic fail to qualify for the knockout phase of the Champions League, they would still have a lot of work left to do domestically. They simply cannot part ways with Kyogo in the middle of the season.
