Celtic are looking to add to their ranks at left-back, whether that be this winter or in the summer. Kieran Tierney has emerged as a likely option to end up at Parkhead with his current Arsenal contract running out at the end of the campaign after the Premier League club passed on the chance to extend it by another twelve months.
Left-back has been a problem area for Celtic for quite some time though. There was a need to improve their in the summer as well and the club ended up bringing in Alex Valle on loan.
Before that, they were interested in quite a few left-backs and it is believed that Patrick Dorgu is someone who was on their radar in the summer. But now, it looks like he is wanted by Manchester United and Lecce are looking for a transfer fee that the Hoops could have never afforded.
As reported by The Athletic, Lecce are said to want a €40 million transfer fee for Dorgu. Manchester United have indicated a willingness to go to €30 million. Talks are continuing to bridge the gap.
Manchester United ready to pay €30m fee for player Celtic wanted
Of course, many Celtic fans might feel that the club missed an opportunity with Dorgu. But it is very possible that Lecce might have wanted a transfer fee last summer that was beyond the Scottish champions.
If Celtic do end up landing the signature of Tierney, most supporters would be happy. Of course, the move would come with its fair share of risks as well considering his injury record at Arsenal, which is one of the key reasons it did not work out for him in London and a return is even a possibility.
On the other hand, let's see what the future holds for Dorgu. Will the 20-year-old end up at Manchester United?
